The ASCE president, Mr. Greg Diloreto,Mr. Pat Natale, Execu-tive Director, and Mrs. Meggan Maughan-Brown, Director, International Relations, ASCE will be making an official visit to India from August 7 – 16,2013. While in India they hope to meet with the India Section leadership and members in New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. They hope to install the new leadership at a Section meeting in New Delhi following the recent elections held for the Section and the Regions. It is also their hope to find out how these regional bodies are doing since their inception.
The ASCE leadership will also seek the Section’s good counsel and advice on the proposed global strategy for India. Following reports that the Indian government will further accelerate invest¬ment in infrastructure and that in so doing has found that there appears to be a deep skills shortage in the civil engineering profes¬sion in India, there may be ways for ASCE to assist with specific needs as identified. It is hoped that the India Section will have knowledge of what the civil engineering profession and Indian civil engineers perceive their needs to be, to both empower them in their personal employment activities and to build capacity within the civil engineering profession in India.
