Difference between Soil grain and soil aggregate properties.

The index properties of soil can be divided broadly in two categories as Soil grain properties and soil aggregate properties. Lets us know each one by one.

  1. Soil grain properties are those  which are dependent on the individual grains of the soil and are independent of the manner of the soil formation.  The properties in this category are minerological composition, specific gravity of solids, size and shape of grains.
  2. Soil aggregate properties are those properties which are dependent on the soil mass as a whole and thus represent the collective behavior of a soil.
