Answer:This test is done to know the quantity of water to be added for testing the cement for setting time. For this test Vicat’s Apparatus is used . A cement paste shall have a normal or standard consistency if Vicat’s plunger having 10 mm dia and 40 to 50 mm length penetrates 33 to 35 mm from top when the cement paste is testwithin 3-5 minutes after it is thoroughly mixed with water.
